Statement
Bodies, people, objects, time, space and the social conditions they share, are the tools I work with. For me my choreographic work is less about choreographing a spectacle for people to watch, but to choreograph a situation for people to experience. People should be the stimulus for the situation and also the ones who experience the repercussion of the stimulus in this situation. It is the expressing that the people are the stimulus that is the choreographic experience. The communication of them being the stiumlus becomes the situation for people to experience.
Through the stimulation of the individuals’ consciousness of themselves in relation to the reality they experience, I hope for them to discover their responsibility and a moral impediment to act upon injustices and make change. To make change in peoples engagement with their reality and bring full knowledge of their own capability to shift and manipulate their experience of reality.
I experience reality as over bearing with man-made laws, rules, economical and religious systems of manipulation of peoples personal valuation of self, thus excluding and exploiting myself and others because of ideologies of irresponsibility for the reality I interact with.
Through choreographed situations I hope to achieve emancipation of audience, performer, choreographer, theatre, dance, art and personal self. To give us all the space and understanding of our capability to take control of ourselves and make impossible the inequality we lay subject to.
